    Mèze, a Mediterranean town with a rich heritage

    The town of Mèze, in the Hérault department, is a popular tourist destination for its Mediterranean charms. Nestling between the Etang de Thau and the Mediterranean Sea, Mèze offers a picturesque and authentic setting for your camping vacation. Here, you’ll enjoy a tranquil stay rich in discoveries. With its bustling fishing port, pretty, typical alleyways and colorful markets, the town will appeal to lovers of gastronomy, history and nature.

      Etang de Thau, the largest lake in Occitania

      The Etang de Thau, with a surface area of 7500 hectares, is the largest pond in Occitanie. It’s a veritable inland sea, classified Natura 2000, separated from the Mediterranean Sea only by a thin strip of sand known as the lido. The Etang de Thau is renowned for its exceptional biodiversity and shellfish farming.

      Located just opposite our campsite, the Etang de Thau is waiting to be explored. Don’t miss out on this unique place during your vacation!

      You can take a boat trip to explore the crystal-clear waters, watch the migratory birds that stop off here, admire a magnificent sunset or try your hand at traditional fishing.

      On the Etang de Thau, water activities abound, and you’ll be spoilt for choice between boat or catamaran trips, kayaking, paddleboarding, kitesurfing, pedal-boating and more!

      Discover the pond and its unique biodiversity on foot along one of the many hiking trails, such as the “Balade de la Conque”, that run along the shores of the Etang de Thau, guaranteeing a breathtaking view and the discovery of Mediterranean flora and fauna! You may be lucky enough to spot the pink flamingos that are present in the Thau lagoon.

      If you prefer cycling, you can also take your family or friends for a spin on one of the many cycle routes in the Thau archipelago:

      • Cycling loop n°25: an itinerary of almost 60km around the Etang de Thau, starting from Sète station and offering exceptional panoramic views.
      • The Lido greenway: a dozen-kilometer route from Sète to Marseillan along the beaches.

      Horse-riding is also possible in the vicinity of our campsite and the Etang de Thau.

      Don’t miss the chance to sample the seafood of the Etang de Thau: oysters, mussels and other shellfish! These are renowned throughout the region for their exceptional flavour. To accompany the seafood, enjoy a glass of local wine for a complete culinary experience.

      Whether you’re a sports fan, a nature lover or a gourmet, the Etang de Thau at Mèze promises unforgettable moments.

      Sète, a stone’s throw from the campsite

      Our Beau Rivage campsite is located just 20 minutes from the pretty town of Sète, which can be seen from the campsite just across the Etang de Thau, a good reason to discover this picturesque town during your stay in Mèze!

      During your stopover in Sète, be sure to visit its fishing port, the leading fishing port in the Mediterranean, and take the time to admire the fishing boats, then make a detour to the Pointe Courte district, the fishermen’s quarter, where you’ll stroll between the colorful facades and immerse yourself in local life, among the locals.

      If you’re looking for good food, make sure you stop off at Les Halles de Sète, a must-see market where you’ll find great local produce to tantalize your taste buds!

      Don’t miss Mont Saint-Clair, 183m high, which offers breathtaking panoramic views of the town, the Etang de Thau and the Mediterranean Sea.

      In terms of culture, there’s the Paul Valéry Museum, dedicated to the Sète-born poet, and the Musée de la Mer, where you can learn all about Sète’s maritime history!

      Other towns to discover during your stay in Hérault

      During your stay at the Beau Rivage campsite in Mèze, take the time to discover the many towns and villages in the Hérault region that are close to the campsite and well worth a visit:

      Bouzigues : a small, peaceful village on the shores of the Etang de Thau, famous for its oysters.

      Loupian: a small village known for its Gallo-Roman remains and Renaissance architecture: a real plunge into the past for history and heritage lovers.

      Balaruc-le-Vieux: a circular village, surrounded by ramparts and steeped in history. From the Place du Truc, you can enjoy a magnificent view of the Etang de Thau and the Crique de l’Angle.

      Balaruc-les-Bains: a renowned spa resort, its waters boast numerous benefits. An ideal stopover to pamper yourself.

      Other towns such as Gigean, Loupian, Marseillan, Mireval, Montbazin, Poussan, Sète, Vic-la-Gardiole and Villeveyrac are also worth a visit in the heart of the Thau archipelago.

      Around the Thau archipelago, other towns to discover during your stay at our 4-star campsite include Cap d’Agde, Vias, Béziers, Palavas-les-Flots and Montpellier.

      During your stay in Mèze, you’ll be able to enjoy a wide range of activities and leisure activities for the whole family in the vicinity of our 4-star campsite.

      The Etang de Thau is within easy reach of the campsite, and can be reached on foot thanks to direct access from the campsite.

      The campsite faces the Etang de Thau, a privileged location that allows holidaymakers to take advantage of outdoor activities such as walking and cycling on the many cycle paths (the voie verte and the lido) or horseback riding; water sports (canoeing, windsurfing, towed buoys, etc.); cultural activities with the many museums and architectural heritage of the region, but also the festivals and various celebrations that punctuate the summer period.
